Utah Drums is run by Ryan Russon, who has played drums for over 20 years across rock, punk, pop, reggae, and jazz, and tunes with a Tune-Bot for measured, repeatable results across Utah and Salt Lake Counties.
Hi, I’m Ryan.
I’ve been playing drums for over twenty years, in four bands, covering rock, punk, pop, reggae, and jazz. Somewhere in there I got tired of kits that sounded great one week and dead the next, and started tuning with a Tune-Bot: measure every head, write the numbers down, and the same sound can be set again later.
That habit is the idea behind Utah Drums. When the Wasatch Front lost its dedicated drum shop, the remaining options were general music stores or shipping a kit out of state. Utah Drums covers that gap: bring your kit to me, or I can come to your church, school, studio, or house.
How I work
- Measured tuning. Batter and resonant heads on every drum, tuned to a target frequency for your genre.
- Published prices. Restorations get a range up front and a final quote after inspection.
- Heads sourced for you. I match sizes and models to your kit and bill them with the job.
- Local partners for shell work. Bearing edge and shell work goes to a Utah custom builder rather than being shipped out of state.
- Questions welcome. Part of the point is meeting more Utah drummers.
