Just bought a used kit? $150 and it’ll sound like a new one.
Bought a used kit on KSL or Facebook Marketplace in Utah? Rehead & Voice ($150 plus heads) replaces the worn heads, cleans and lubricates the hardware, and tunes the kit to your genre. Send photos and we'll confirm what it needs.
Why used kits sound bad
Most used kits change hands with the heads they were sold with years ago. The shells are usually fine, since a decent maple or birch kit lasts a long time, but the heads are worn out, the tension rods are dry, and the felts are flat.
Rehead & Voice covers all of that in one visit: new heads sourced and matched to your kit, rods lubricated, hardware checked, bearing edges inspected, and every drum tuned with a Tune-Bot to a target genre. You get a spec sheet with the numbers.
As bought: dull heads, dry rods, rusty hoops

Questions
- The seller said it was 'just tuned.' Do I still need this?
- Usually, yes. Used kits are typically sold with the original heads, which are stretched or dented. New heads plus a measured tune is what makes a used kit sound like a new one.
- How do I know if it needs Rehead & Voice or a Full Restoration?
- Rust on the tension rods, pitted chrome, or a kit that's been in a garage for years points to a Full Restoration ($300+, final quote after inspection). Otherwise Rehead & Voice ($150 plus heads) is usually enough. Send photos and we'll tell you which.
- Can you look at a kit before I buy it?
- Yes. A $60 consultation covers a used-kit evaluation from photos or in person, and it's credited toward any service booked within 30 days.
